In this class Dr. Yusuf Ziya Kavakci is grammatically analyzing the Qur'an using Classical Qur'anic Arabic. He translates Qur'an word by word, ayat by ayat, surah by surah in class. The objective of this class is to teach and familiarize the students, who have previously studied basics of Arabic grammar, to feel and understand Qur'an when they read it.

The teacher of this class is the Imam at the Islamic Association of North Texas, Dr. Yusuf Ziya Kavakci. Click here to view his short biography, and plain text copies of some of his publications and works-in-progress.

Insha Allah we will convert the VHS tapes to digital files, then upload to our website. If you need any ayats before we complete the project, we will mail you the VHS tape.
  • The translation of the Sura's name is based on Yusuf Ali's translation.
  • Students will need to buy an Arabic to English Dictionary. A recommeded dictionary is the, "A dictionary for Modern Written Arabic" by Hans Wehr.
